1/4 - 1/13
We are starting one of my favorite topics this week - OUTER SPACE! For the next few weeks, we will be studying all things "out of this world!" This week, we will be reviewing what we already know about the planets and their characteristics. We will also be exploring the characteristics of the Earth, the Sun, and the moon. Students will be expected to compare and contrast physical characteristics of each. Students have vocabulary homework due on 1/6. Next week, we will be digging deeper into the activity of the Earth to learn about day, night, phases of the moon, and seasons. TEKS: 5.8 Earth and space. The student knows that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among the Sun, Earth, and Moon system. The student is expected to: (C) demonstrate that Earth rotates on its axis once approximately every 24 hours causing the day/night cycle and the apparent movement of the Sun across the sky; and (D) identify and compare the physical characteristics of the Sun, Earth, and Moon.
